Hi everyone
As many of you will be aware, we have been experiencing severe problems with the hosting company for the FARE (and FURD) websites, Nildram. The site mostly works OK, but it has been impossible to access the admin section of the site to upload any news items or features.
This problem was first noticed at the beginning of August, and reported by FARE webmaster Dave Lawton to Nildram. Unfortunately the company has been unable to solve the problem, which is affecting over 300 websites which they currently host, and based on a similar experience with them earlier this year, we have no confidence that they will be able to do so in the near future.
We have therefore decided to move the website to another hosting company, Fast2host, and notified Nildram that we wish them to transfer the domain name over to the new provider. This could take between 5 and 10 working days, and Dave in the meantime is transferring the data over to a temporary site, which he will need to test out this weekend.
The most urgent issue is the application process for Action Week grants. We are hopeful that the temporary hosting site will be operable by next Monday, 1st September, allowing applications to be made online, which is not possible at present due to the problems outlined above. People visiting the website will be automatically redirected to the temporary site.
Alternatively anyone who has submitted an online application in the past month may wish to resubmit the form by post or fax to the relevant national partner organisation, as detailed in the Action Week pdf (see attachment, other language versions are still available on the FARE website: www.FareNet.org).
Due to the difficulties outlined, the deadline for applications has been extended to the 15th September.
